This guide describes the question types available when creating Tests and Surveys in Yorkshare.
Many of the question types below allow feedback based on the student's answer (in some cases this is customisable depending on a correct or incorrect response).
The following list list describes each question type and its function:

Prompts the student to select between two options (see
below): Yes/No, Agree/Disagree, Right/Wrong , True/False |
| True/False | This displays two options, True or False. This is identical to using the True/False option in the question type above. |
| Hot Spot | Presents students with an image, on which they have to mark the correct point. (a "pin the tail on the donkey"-style question, to put it colloquially) |

| Multiple Answer | A question which has multiple correct answers. Presents the student with a series of checkboxes. |
| Multiple Choice | A question with multiple possible answers, but only one correct answer. The student can only select one out of these answers. |
| Quiz Bowl | A question inspired by the quiz show "Jeopardy": requires the answer to be in the form of a question. Of limited use. |

| Matching | A question type whose answer involves pairing items from one column to items in a second column. |
| Opinion Scale/Likert | A question presented as a scale of options (e.g. 1-5). |
| Ordering | The responses must be placed in the correct order. |

| Essay |
Presents students with a text box in which to enter their
answer. Answers can be of any length. You can provide students with an example response in the Answer section. |
| Short Answer | A short-form text based answer. |

| Fill in Multiple Blanks | Up to 10 blanks to be filled in by students. Blanks are identified using variables in [square brackets]. |
| Fill in the Blank | A gap in the question test has to be filled in by the student. |
| Jumbled Sentence | The student has to select from a set of options in a drop-down menu to complete a sentence. |

| File Response | Prompts the student to upload a file (e.g. an image). |

| Calculated Formula | Mathematical question types. For more complex usage, these are often better supported by other solutions. Contact the ELDT for further advice. |
