Printing PDF documents with Comments



If you are provided with a PDF document which has comments included such as an assignment or minutes from a meeting and you wish to print the document with the comments there are several option available depending on the version of Acrobat Reader you are using.

Acrobat and Reader let you print comments in the following formats:

Below is a recommended process to print the document with the page text on the left side and comments on the right (see illustration).

Process for Adobe Reader X and above.

With your document open in Adobe Reader.

Select the Commenting options and make the following changes.

Click OK.

Print your document

  1. Choose File > Print.
  2. In the Print dialog box, click the Summarize Comments button.
  3. When prompted "Do you want to include the text of summarized comments...," click Yes.

    Summarizing comments in long documents can take some time.

    In the print settings choose Multiple button.
    Pages per sheet set to 2.
    If you have more than one page and are printing on both sides of the paper (duplex printing), choose to Flip on short edge.
  4. When the Print dialog box reappears, click OK to print the comments.
